"Dans la Jungle"
dispositif in-situ: draps brodés, ombre vidéo-projetée, texte.
"J'ai décidé de fuir mon pays. Si je parle je ne dormirai pas de la nuit. On vit dans la jungle qui est assez éloignée de la ville. On marche toute la journée. Ici ce n'est pas un endroit pour les êtres humains. C'est juste pour les animaux. On n'y est pas en sécurité. La nuit c'est vraiment très difficile de dormir. On dit que les « lions sont dans la jungle et les renards à la maison ». Notre maison c'est ici: la Jungle. Voilà, c'est ici qu'on habite. Notre vie c'est ça, venez voir, je dors ici: Tu as vu où j'habite ? "

Haunted Wash House -Children want to go home

"Haunted Wash House - Children want to go home" is a serie of embroided portraits that takes inspiration from the childhood described in Dickens' stories. In “Oliver Twist” & “Great Expectations”, the children's world bring to mind a theatre filled with comedy or tragedy. In the wash house of the Charles Dickens Museum, embroided portraits of homeless kids are present to retell stories conceived with poetry rather than temporality.

24 September to 11 December 2010 Island Projects @ The Charles Dickens Museum, 48 Doughty Street, London
Artist-run Island Projects announce their continued involvement with The Charles Dickens Museum, with the curation of 14 new works by artists that will mark the opening of new visitor spaces by the Museum in the adjacent house, Number 49 Doughty Street.
Beyond the Dustheaps is an exhibition of new contemporary artworks made in response to the Museum and to Dickens's life and works. The artists have been given free reign to create works that are interspersed within the Museum's current displays as well as creating installations in the empty spaces of the new extension.
A serial publication including writing by David Berridge, Jane Madell and Matthew MacKisack will be launched at a series of performance, reading and film events throughout the three month duration of the exhibition. Events will coincide with the Bloomsbury and This Is Not A Gateway festivals. The project is supported by Camden Council's Creative small grants scheme.
